Desert Light has the stillness of a landscape that has been shaped by time rather than by force.
Pale blush, warm cream and soft lavender move through this piece in quiet horizontal bands, the kind of layering that takes centuries in rock but arrived here in a single session of paint and water and surrender. Warm mocha and gold thread through the middle like veins of mineral caught in ancient stone, and soft teal and sage appear in the lower portion like water finding its way through desert terrain.
This piece was inspired by the striated walls of desert canyons I’ve visited - both the Grand Canyon and Mitzpe Ramon - the way color moves through stone in layers that tell a story of everything that came before.
**Please note that the colors in this piece shift and change depending on the light of the room it lives in, as well as the reflective quality of the metallic and pearlescent pigments. Photography captures one moment in one light - in your home, this piece will reveal itself differently throughout the day.
