Jasper was inspired by a piece of Mookaite Jasper that I keep on my art table, a stone whose deep yellows, rich purples and warm earthy tones felt like they were already a painting waiting to happen.
What emerged on paper carries the same energy as the stone itself - grounding and alive at the same time. Deep amber and chrome yellow move in broad horizontal waves, with veins of deep purple, dark teal and warm brown running through the center like fault lines in ancient rock. White and soft lavender appear like light caught in the layers. Gold metallic threads throughout, warm and luminous.
Mookaite is a stone I return to when I need to feel anchored, clear and willing to step forward. That feeling is what I painted into this piece - the steadiness that makes change feel possible, the personal power that comes from feeling rooted in yourself.
This piece was made with presence, breath, and complete surrender to what the paint wanted to do.
