Messy

$675.00

Messy is a tribute to the part of us that was taught to be neat, to stay inside the lines, to keep things orderly and controlled, and to the profound liberation that comes from letting all of that go.

This piece began as an act of intentional play. After setting the underlayer word through the established ritual, I gave in to an urge I hadn't felt since childhood - running my fingers directly through the paint, mixing and moving color with my hands rather than a brush. In doing so much inner work around healing and reclaiming lost parts of myself, finger painting became a way to reconnect with my inner child - not from a place of sadness or longing, but from a place of pure, uninhibited play.

And then the paint was thrown. Directly at the canvas, layer after layer, the piece building itself in ways I couldn't predict or control. Metallic liquid acrylics in gold and copper were added on top, and the canvas was turned multiple times to let drips move horizontally across the surface, creating the layered, almost geological quality that defines this piece.

The result moves in horizontal band of deep teal and navy, forest green and warm sand, with a bright band of yellow cutting through the middle like a streak of pure joy. Metallic gold drips throughout catch the light and shift with every viewing angle.

This is messy with reverence.

As with all canvas pieces, the underlayer word is woven into the foundation of the painting, present in the work even when it can't be fully seen.

This piece arrives infused with reiki energy and made with intention from beginning to end.
