Watermelon and magenta move through this piece in bold horizontal waves, with tangerine and warm orange burning through the center like heat rising off the earth. Gold threads through the layers throughout, catching and releasing light as the eye moves across the piece. Luminous white passages glow between the bands like cloud breaking open, and deep burgundy and cool gray move through the edges and underbelly, grounding all that warmth and keeping it honest.
This piece was made with presence, breath, and complete surrender to what the paint wanted to do.
